Macedonia's Ministry of Labour and Social Policy has announced that Thursday, January 7th, 2016, would be a non-working public holiday throughout Macedonia "for all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia" on account of the upcoming annual "first day of Christmas by the Orthodox calendar" annual non-working public holiday of Macedonia.
In a separate announcement, the Macedonia's Ministry of Labour and Social Policy has announced that Wednesday, January 6, 2016, would be a non-working public holiday for citizens of the Orthodox faith in Macedonia on account of the upcoming Orthodox Christmas Eve annual sectorial non-working public holiday ("Christmas Eve, the day before Christmas is a non-working day of Orthodox citizens").
The above are in line with the Law on Holidays of the Republic of Macedonia (Official Gazette, and Br.21/98 7.18) as last amended in 2007 (2007-02-08), and the Macedonian Ministry of Labour and Social Policy's official list of 2016 public holidays in Macedonia, as published late last year (2015-10-27).
