The Principal Secretary to the Ministry for Local Government and Rural Development of Malawi, Stuart Ligomeka, has announced that Tuesday, December 27, 2016, would be a day in lieu non-working public holiday in Malawi as Christmas Day falls on a Sunday and the next day is already a non-working public holiday in Malawi for Boxing Day.
The aforementioned announcement is in line with the list of official non-working public holidays in Malawi for the calendar year 2016, as released by the Malawi Government, late last year (2015-12-03), and in line with the permanent addition of Boxing Day as an annual non-working public holiday over the past few years (2013-12-26, 2013-12-24, 2012-12-18 and 2007-10-01).
