The Malta Bankers' Association has released its annual list of bank holidays in Malta for the calendar year 2016; dates when banks in Malta will be closed in addition to the previously-announced 2016 general non-working public holidays in Malta for the calendar year 2016.
Once again (2015-02-06, 2014-03-04, 2013-03-01 and 2012-12-31), the aforementioned announcement of the list of bank holidays in Malta for the calendar year 2016, confirms the late 2012 decision Malta Bankers' Association (2012-12-31) that the list of bank holidays in Malta for the upcoming calendar years, in addition to the general public holidays (2016-01-09, 2015-01-07, 2014-01-10 and 2012-02-11), would not include the usual January 2nd bank holiday anymore. In the past (2012-02-05 and 2009-12-23), January 2nd had systematically been declared as an additional bank holiday in Malta.
