Nepal Ministry of Home Affairs has finally announced that, as per a notice published in the Nepal gazette, Thursday, July 7, 2016, had been declared as the annual non-working public holiday in Nepal on account of the upcoming annual Eid-ul-Fitr (End of Ramadan) non-working public holiday in Nepal.

Muslim public holidays were added to the official list of Nepalese public holidays for 2008 (2008-10-01), after years of protests by the Muslim minority in Nepal (2007-06-30), and maintained since (2015-09-24, 2015-07-17, 2014-07-28, 2013-08-08, 2012-08-17, 2010-09-09 and 2009-09-20), and the aforementioned announcement is in line with last spring's (2015-03-03) gazetted list of official non-working public holidays in Nepal for the Nepalese year 2072 (April 2015-April 2016).
