Nicaragua 2016-2017 Year-End Public Holidays

Nicaragua's Coordinadora del Consejo de Comunicación y Ciudadanía, Rosario Murillo, has announced that MITRAB (Ministerio del Trabajo) had once again declared extended public sector non-working public holidays in Nicaragua centered around the Nicaraguan public holidays for Christmas 2016 and New Year's Day 2017.

As per the aforementioned announcement, MITRAB has declared public sector holidays in Nicaragua, centered around the Nicaraguan public holidays for Christmas 2016 and New Year's Day 2017, to run from Wednesday, December 21, 2016, until Monday, January 2, 2017, inclusively.

This announcement, based on Article 76 of Nicaragua's Labor Code, has become expected annually (2015-12-12, 2014-12-10, 2012-12-13, 2011-12-17, 2010-12-04, 2009-12-07, 2008-12-05, 2007-12-03, 2006-12-14, 2004-12-01, and 2001-12-05), although the original legislation only extends the public sector holidays in Nicaragua, centered around the Nicaraguan public holidays for Christmas 2016 and New Year's Day 2017, from December 24, until January 1st.
