The Paraguayan head of presidential decrees, Édgar Rodas, has issued a communiqué preempting the expected questions ("ante la duda de mucha gente") and ruling-out the move of any of Paraguay's May 2016 public holidays (May 1, May 14 and 15), as all 3 of these Paraguayan May 2016 public holidays fall on weekend days during the calendar year 2016.
As per the aforementioned communiqué that none of Paraguay's May 2016 public holidays will be moved to the following Monday, despite the fact that all 3 of these Paraguayan May 2016 public holidays fall on weekend days during the calendar year 2016, as per the "Decreto número 4508/15", signed by president Cartes (2015-12-10), which confirmed that, once again (2014-12-18), in 2016, only one of the annual non-working public holidays of Paraguay, the Día de los Héroes de la Patria, would be moved to adjoin a nearby weekend.
Recall that, 4 years ago (2012-08-03), Paraguay's president, Federico Franco, issued the Decreto presidencial N° 9393 finally implemented the Ley 1723 del 29 de junio de 2001 (Que Autoriza Al Poder Ejecutivo A Trasladar Los Feriados Nacionales Al Dia Lunes) which gave the president of Paraguay the authority to move any, or all, mid-week public holidays to a nearby Monday (except New Year, Independence Day, día de La Virgen de Caacupé, and Maundy Thursday and Good Friday). Despite its passage over a decade ago (2001-06-29), and regular calls for the executive to avail itself of its prerogative (2010-09-23 and 2008-07-26), until then, the provisions of law 1723/01 had rarely been used before 2012 (2012-07-24).
