Karnataka Declares August 17 Public Holiday For Nagara Panchami

The Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district administrations of India's state of Karnataka have declared Monday, August 17, 2026, as a public holiday on account of Nagara Panchami.
The public holiday will apply to government offices across both districts, and stems from the Karnataka government’s direction authorizing the Deputy Commissioners of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi to declare a local holiday for Nagara Panchami based on local circumstances, following the proposal submitted by the Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner through letter No. DKDC-13011(12)/26/2026E-1254622/22 dated August 4, 2026.

The Zambian Secretary to Cabinet, Patrick Kangwa, has issued a statement that only Thursday, August 13, 2026, is a public holiday, and that Friday, August 14, 2026, is a regular working day.
As per the aforementioned statement, "The government of the Republic of Zambia wishes to remind all employers and members of the public that Thursday, 13th August, 2026, is a public holiday in accordance with Article 56(2) of the Constitution of Zambia".
