The Government of Rwanda through the Rwandan Ministry of Labor, has released a communique declaring Friday, August 5, 2016, as a non-working public holiday throughout Rwanda on account of the upcoming annual Umuganura Rwandan public holiday, which "normally takes place on August, 1st every year".

The aforementioned announcement that Friday, August 5, 2016, would be a non-working public holiday throughout Rwanda on account of the upcoming annual Umuganura Rwandan public holiday ("Friday 05th August, 2016 is a Public Holiday to celebrate Umuganura2016. @RwandaLabour wishes u a Happy Day."), is in line with the earlier (01-Nov-2015) release of the full list of official non-working public holidays in Rwanda for the calendar year 2016 by the Rwandan government, as well as the "Arrκtι Presidentiel N°06/01 Du 16/02/2011 Determinant Les Jours Feries Officiels" which overhauled the list of Rwandan non-working public holidays (07-Mar-2011), and was later itself amended (01-Jul-2015 and 18-May-2015).
