The aforementioned confirmation of Thursday, July 7, 2016, as the date of the 2016 annual non-working public holiday in the Solomon Islands commemorating the Solomon Island's Independence Day, is in line with the previously-released list of annual non-working public holidays in the Solomon Islands for the upcoming year 2016 as announced by the Solomon Islands Ministry for Home Affairs, late last year (15-Dec-2015).

Recall that, last year (04-Jul-2015), Friday, July 10, 2015, had been declared as a day in lieu non-working public holiday in the Solomon Islands is due to the annual date of July 7 being forecasted as poor weather, causing the celebrations of the 37th independence anniversary of the Solomon Islands to be moved to Friday, July 10, 2015.
