Venezuela's president, Nicolás Maduro, has issued a decree declaring Monday, October 24, as national holiday to commemorate General Rafael Urdaneta, one of Simón Bolívar's most loyal military and political allies.
The aforementioned declaration of Monday, October 24, 2016, as national holiday to commemorate General Rafael Urdaneta is not to be a new annual non-working public holiday in Venezuela ("Por ser un día no feriado las actividades administrativas, educativas y comerciales deben desarrollarse de manera normal"), thus staying is in line with the official list of the dates for the 2016 public holidays and banking holidays in Venezuela as announced late last year by the Sudeban (2015-12-14) in conformity with the "Ley de Reforma Parcial de la Ley de Instituciones del Sector Bancario".
