Angola's Ministry of Public Service and Social Security (Ministério da Administração Pública, Trabalho e Segurança Social-MAPTSS) has announced that as per the law revising Angolan official non-working public holidays, Monday, September 18, 2017, would be a non-working public holiday in Angola.
The aforementioned announcement that Monday, September 18, 2017, would be a non-working public holiday in Angola due to the annual, September 17, Angolan public holiday falling on a Sunday ("suspensão da actividade laboral no dia 18 de Setembro de 2017"), is in line with the "Ley de los Feriados Nacionales y Locales" which revised (16-Dec-2010) the legislation on public holidays in Angola, and whose reconciled bill was approved without any substantial changes (20-Jan-2011) and signed into law by Angolan President, José Eduardo dos Santos, the following month (15-Feb-2011), despite some last-ditch attempts by the opposition, and with the list of 2017 public holidays in Angola as announced earlier this year (09-Jan-2017).
