The Department of Justice and Attorney-General of Australia's State of Queensland has announced the dates of the annual non-working public holidays for 2019 in Australia's State of Queensland, taking into account all the changes to the annual non-working public holidays in Australia's State of Queensland of the past few years, including the relatively recent one concerning Easter Sunday.
The various changes to the non-working public holidays of Australia's State of Queensland, of the past few years, are as follows.
Seven years ago (2011-12-03 and 2011-11-05) the government of the Australian State of Queensland amended the state public holidays law so that, beginning in 2012, the Queen's Birthday non-working public holiday would be moved from the 2nd Monday in June to the 1st Monday in October. Less than a year later (2012-10-30), after many months of discussion (2012-09-11, 2012-08-20, and 2012-06-12), amendments to the Public Holidays Act were passed by the Parliament of Queensland, and from 2013 onward, the dates of the Birthday of the Sovereign (Queen's Birthday) public holiday and of the Labour Day public holiday were changed.
Then, more recently (2015-10-14, 2015-06-23, 2015-05-22, 2015-03-17, 2015-03-13 and 2015-02-15), further reversals and amendments to the annual list of non-working public holidays in Australia's State of Queensland were included in the "Holidays and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2015", and led to a revised list of the dates of the annual non-working public holidays for 2016 in Australia's State of Queensland (2015-11-01).
Finally, this past year (2016-08-31), the Palaszczuk Government of Australia's state of Queensland moved to make Easter Sunday a new annual non-working public holiday in Australia's state of Queensland, beginning in 2017, and the subsequent passage of an amendment to the Queensland Holidays Act 1983 by Parliament (2016-12-02), thus amended the previously-released list of 2017 public holidays in Australia's state of Queensland (2016-04-09).
