Bhutanese 2017 Thrue Bab Public Holiday

(Posted on Thursday, September 21, 2017)

Source: Royal Civil Service Commission of Bhutan (Thimphu)

The Royal Civil Service Commission of the Government of Bhutan has announced and confirmed that Saturday, September 23, 2017, would be a non-working public holiday throughout Bhutan on the occasion of the upcoming 2017 Blessed Rainy Day or Thrue-Bab annual Bhutanese public holiday.

The aforementioned announcement that Saturday, September 23, 2017, will be a non-working public holiday throughout Bhutan on the occasion of the upcoming 2017 Blessed Rainy Day or Thrue-Bab annual Bhutanese public holiday, is in line with the official list of national and regional non-working public holidays in Bhutan for the calendar year 2017, released last fall (28-Oct-2016) by the Royal Civil Service Commission of the Government of Bhutan.

A few years ago (16-Sep-2009), Bhutan's Cabinet reinstated the Thrue Bab (Blessed Rainy Day) national public holiday of Bhutan which had been canceled a couple of years before that (03-Jan-2007).

The other Bhutanese public holiday that was canceled at the same time, the Ngyenpa Guzom (Meeting of the Nine Evils) annual public holiday of Bhutan, was never re-instated, despite some scattered attempts over the years (03-Jan-2017 and 29-Jul-2009).
