Chile's lower house of Parliament (Cámara de Diputados) has approved by a vote of 84 for, 4 against and 14 abstentions, the declaration of January 17 and 18, 2018, as non-working public holidays in Chile, on account of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis to Chile.
The aforementioned declaration of January 17 and 18, 2018, as non-working public holidays in Chile, on account of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis to Chile, will apply to the region of La Araucanía (January 17) and to the region of Tarapacá (January 18), thus amending the list of official non-working public holidays in Chile for the calendar year 2018, as announced earlier this year (2017-01-02).
