Gambia's president-elect, Adama Barrow, has declared Saturday, February 18, 2017, as a non-working public holiday throughout Gambia "in commemoration of his inauguration ceremony and our 52nd Independence Celebrations".

Due to the change in president in the Gambia, the aforementioned announcement that president Barrow, has declared Saturday, February 18, 2017, as a non-working public holiday throughout Gambia, is no longer signed by the President of the Republic of The Gambia, with the flourish FAAICL (Fellow of Australian Asia Institute for Civil Leadership) as was the case in past years (2016-03-23, 2016-02-17, 2015-09-17, 2014-01-11, 2013-08-07, 2012-11-07, 2012-07-20, 2011-12-27, 2011-04-29, 2011-04-21 and 2011-02-17).
