The government of Guyana has announced that the upcoming Youmun Nabi, birth anniversary of the Prophet, public holiday, would be observed as a non-working public holiday on Friday, December 1st, 2017, as opposed to the previously-announced date of Thursday, November 30, 2017.
The aforementioned announcement ("Pursuant To The Provisions Of Sections 3 (1) And 3 (2) Of The Public Holidays Act, Chapter 19:07, Of The Laws Of Guyana, Friday December 1, 2017 Is Hereby Declared A Public Holiday."), signed by Khemraj Ramjattan MP, as Vice President and Minister Of Public Security Ministry Of Public Security, comes shortly after the announcement by Guyana's Central Islamic Organisation (CIOG.) that the Muslim month of Rabiul-Awal had begun, and is a departure from the dates of the annual non-working public holidays in Guyana for the calendar year 2017, as announced by the Guyana Government Information Agency, late last year (2016-11-11).
