Jordanian Prime Minister, Hani Al-Mulki, has issued a circular decreeing a non-working public holiday in Jordan on Thursday, November 30, 2017, to commemorate the upcoming annual Jordanian non-working public holiday for the Prophet's birth anniversary.

The aforementioned announcement of Thursday, November 30, 2017, as the date of the upcoming annual Prophet Mohammad's birthday non-working public holiday in Jordan, this year, had been expected (2017-11-07), and is in line with the list of official non-working 2017 public holidays in Jordan, as released late last year (2016-10-15).

Recall that for the 2 preceding years to last (2015-12-04 and 2014-01-07), then Jordanian Prime Minister, Abdullah Ensour, had moved the 2014 and 2015 non-working public holiday in Jordan for Prophet Mohammad's Birthday from Monday, January 13, to Sunday, January 12, 2014, and from Wednesday, December 23, to Thursday, December 24, 2015.

More generally, the Jordanian government often (2017-04-26, 2013-10-31, 2013-04-19, 2013-01-17, 2012-04-24 and 2006-04-25), though not always (2016-05-13, 2016-04-26 and 2014-10-20), moves mid-week public holidays to the nearest weekend, in particular the Labour Day non-working public holiday in Jordan, and the Hijri New Year Jordanian public holiday, to adjoin a nearby weekend.
