Kyrgyzstan May 2017 Public Holidays Officialized

The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Sooronbai Jeenbekov, has finally signed a decree confirming last month's announcement that Monday, May 8, 2017, would be an additional one-off official non-working public holiday in Kyrgyzstan on account of the upcoming Day of the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic and Victory Day annual non-working public holidays of Kyrgyzstan, creating a 5-day period of public holidays in Kyrgyzstan from Friday, May 5, until Tuesday, May 9, 2017.

Late last month (2017-03-29), the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic had announced that Monday, May 8, 2017, would be an additional one-off official non-working public holiday in Kyrgyzstan on account of the upcoming Day of the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic and Victory Day annual non-working public holidays of Kyrgyzstan, thus creating a 5-day period of public holidays in Kyrgyzstan from Friday, May 5, until Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in accordance with Article 113 of the Labor Code, and thus amends the approved calendar of 2017 public holidays of the Kyrgyz Republic as announced earlier this year (2017-01-09), and that, as is commonly done in Kyrgyzstan (2017-03-13, 2016-12-14, 2016-04-20, 2016-02-16, 2015-12-24, 2014-12-26, 2013-04-28, 2011-12-31, 2010-11-11, 2010-08-25, 2010-02-15, 2009-12-11, 2008-12-19 and 2007-12-27), in compensation for Monday, May 8, 2017, being declared an additional one-off official non-working public holiday in Kyrgyzstan, Saturday, May 13, 2017, would be declared a regular working day in Kyrgyzstan.
