Madagascar's secrétaire?général?du?ministère?de?la?Santé?publique, Joséa?Ratsirarson, has announced that Thursday, January 10, 2018, had been declared a one-off non-working public holiday in Madagascar to coincide with a new cleanup effort in Madagascar's principal cities in an attempt to stem the plague outbreak in Madagascar.

Last month (01-Nov-2017 and 28-Oct-2017), Madagascar's President, Hery?Rajaonarimampianina, had similarly announced Thursday, November 2, 2017, as the date for his previously-announced one-off non-working public holiday in Madagascar to coincide with a cleanup effort in Madagascar's principal cities ("l’État a décrèté la journée du 02 novembre une journée chômée, destinée à la réalisation de l’assainissement général dans tout le pays"), thus amending the previously-released "Décret fixant la liste des jours fériés, chômés et payés au titre de l’année 2017", listing the non-working public holidays in Madagascar for the calendar year 2017 (01-Feb-2017 and 03-Jan-2017).
