Madagascar's President, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, has announced Thursday, November 2, 2017, as the date for his previously-announced one-off non-working public holiday in Madagascar to coincide with a cleanup effort in Madagascar's principal cities ("l’État a décrèté la journée du 02 novembre une journée chômée, destinée à la réalisation de l’assainissement général dans tout le pays").

This past weekend, President Rajaonarimampianina had announced that he was about to declare a one-off non-working public holiday in Madagascar ("journée d'assainissement chômée et payée") to coincide with a cleanup effort in Madagascar's principal cities, whose date would be set at the following week's council of Ministers meeting and announced Tuesday or Thursday, and which would be in addition to the previously-released "Décret fixant la liste des jours fériés, chômés et payés au titre de l’année 2017", listing the non-working public holidays in Madagascar for the calendar year 2017 (2017-02-01 and 2017-01-03).
