Under pressure from trade unions, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection of the government of Moldova has announced that it was abandoning its earlier proposal to amend Article 111 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Moldova and cancel 2 of Moldova's current annual public holidays.
Earlier this month (2017-12-07), we had reported that the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection of the government of Moldova was proposing amendments to Article 111 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Moldova, whereby December 31 to January 2 would become new annual non-working public holidays in Moldova, to be compensated by the cancellation of 2 of Moldova's current annual public holidays ("Art. 111 par. (2) shall have the following content: a) December 31 - January 2 - New Year's holiday days; point (c) is repealed (March 8 - International Women's Day); point (f) is repealed (May 1 - International Labor Day)").
