Nicaragua 2017-2018 Year-End Public Holidays

Nicaragua's Vicepresidenta de la República, Rosario Murillo, has announced that MITRAB (Ministerio del Trabajo) had once again declared extended public sector non-working public holidays in Nicaragua centered around the Nicaraguan public holidays for Christmas 2017 and New Year's Day 2018.

As per the aforementioned announcement, MITRAB has declared public sector holidays in Nicaragua, centered around the Nicaraguan public holidays for Christmas 2017 and New Year's Day 2018, to run from Saturday, December 23, 2017, until Monday, January 1, 2017, inclusively.

This announcement, based on Article 76 of Nicaragua's Labor Code, has become expected annually (2016-12-15, 2015-12-12, 2014-12-10, 2012-12-13, 2011-12-17, 2010-12-04, 2009-12-07, 2008-12-05, 2007-12-03, 2006-12-14, 2004-12-01, and 2001-12-05), although the original legislation only extends the public sector holidays in Nicaragua, centered around the Nicaraguan annual public holidays, from December 24, until January 1st.
