The President of Peru, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (aka. PPK), has announced that the Peruvian government would declare a one-off public holiday on Thursday, November 16, 2017, to allow Peruvians to celebrate should Peru win the, November 15, repechage game against New Zealand, and thus qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Last month (09-Oct-2017), the Peruvian government had declared a public holiday on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, to allow Peruvians to watch the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match of Peru against Colombia, a game which Peru lost ("declaró jornada no laborable, a escala nacional, para los trabajadores del sector público entre las 16:00 y 23:59 horas del martes 10 de octubre, a fin de que se puedan implementar las medidas de seguridad por el partido de la selección peruana frente a sus similar de Colombia, por la última fecha de las Eliminatorias al Mundial de Rusia 2018").
The aforementioned declaration of Thursday, November 16, 2017, as a public holiday in Peru, would be in addition to the Kuczynski government's Decreto Supremo 001-2017-PCM, at the beginning of this year (07-Jan-2017) and the amended and expanded version of its previously-released (22-Dec-2016) list of the official non-working public holidays in Peru for the upcoming calendar year 2017 ("feriados para sector público y privado").
