At a media briefing held at the Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs, Sri Lanka's Minister of Home Affairs, Vajira Abeywardene, categorically stated that the previously-released list of Sri Lankan Poya Days in 2018, and related public holidays in Sri Lanka, was "100 percent accurate".
Earlier this year (2017-04-01), Sri Lanka's Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs had published in the "Gazette of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka", its annual official list of the Sri Lankan Poya Day non-working public holidays in Sri Lanka for the upcoming calendar year 2018, a gazette entry which was surprising as it listed the Vesay Full Moon Poya day in April, rather than in May as is usual (2016-03-27, 2015-03-16, 2014-04-07, 2013-04-12).
As per the Holidays Act, Section 2., Declaration regarding Full Moon Poya Days and Sundays, (Volume IV - Laws of Sri Lanka) "It is hereby declared that every Full Moon Poya Day and every Sunday - (a) shall be a public holiday; and (b) shall be a Bank holiday".
