The UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced the dates of the upcoming annual Martyrs' Day, National Day, and this year, Prophet's Birthday, non-working public holidays in the UAE, for the public sector, as running from Thursday, November 30, until Sunday, December 3, 2017, inclusively.
Recall that, two years ago (2015-08-19), the UAE's President, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, had given orders for a new annual non-working public holiday in the UAE to be added to the list of annual non-working public holidays in the UAE on November 30th, to commemorate "Martyrs' Day".
In conjunction with the fact that, as per the UAE's Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, "if a public holiday falls between two weekdays it can be moved to the beginning or end of that week", and that the UAE weekend was changed, a decade ago (2006-08-15 and 2006-05-31), to Fridays and Saturdays, this afforded some moving around of the new annual, November 30, public holiday in the UAE, to create a long weekend in the UAE, as was done for the past 2 years (2016-11-17, 2015-11-02 and 2015-10-26).
