The State Government of India's state of West Bengal has issued a notification declaring Buddha Purnima as a non-working public holiday in India's state of West Bengal, on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, as well as on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, on account of the Rabindra Jayanti public holiday of West Bengal.
Earlier this year (2017-02-16), the Chief Minister of the Government of India's state of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, has announced that Buddha Purnima would be a non-working public holidays in India's state of West Bengal "from this year onward".
The aforementioned announcement and then confirmation of Buddha Purnima as a non-working public holiday in India's state of West Bengal ("In partial modification of this Department Notification No. 5606-F[P2] dated 27.10.2016 the Governor is pleased to declare (1) 10th May, 2017 (Wednesday), as a holiday on account of ‘BUDDHA PURNIMA’, for State Government Offices, Local Bodies, Boards, Corporations and Undertakings controlled or owned by State Government, Educational Institutions etc. all over the State with the exception of the Offices of the Registrar of Assurances, Kolkata and the Collector of the Stamp Revenue, Kolkata.") thus amends the previously-released list of West Bengal non-working public holidays for the calendar year 2017 (2016-11-01).
