Delhi NCT Declares September 11 BRICS Summit Public Holiday

The Lieutenant Governor of India's Delhi NCT (National Capital Territory), has declared Friday, September 11, 2026, as a public sector holiday in view of the BRICS Summit and the arrangements connected with it.
As per the vide notification F. No. 53/868/GAD/ CN/2026/5235-5277, "The Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi is pleased to declare 11th September, 2026 (Friday) to be a holiday in all Government Offices, Autonomous Bodies and Public Sector Undertakings under the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, in view of the BRICS Summit and the arrangements connected therewith.".

Nepal Declares Annual September 8 Gen Z Martyrs’ Day Public Holiday

At today's Cabinet meeting, Nepal's Government decided to declare September 8, 2026, (Bhadra 23, 2083) a nationwide public holiday, Gen-Z Martyrs’ Day, in honor and remembrance of young people who lost their lives during the Gen-Z movement.
The Gen-Z Martyrs’ Day public holiday is to be observed annually on September 8 (Bhadra 23).
Note that September 7 was separately declared a national day of mourning for the Bhotekoshi flood victims, with flags at half-mast, but September 7 will not be observed as a public holiday.

The Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan has published the official schedule of public holidays and days off in Kyrgyzstan in 2027.

Philippines President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared special non-working public holidays in four localities in September to give their residents the opportunity to celebrate their respective festivals and commemorative occasions.
These are September 5 in General Santos City (Proclamation No.1410), September 10 in the Municipality of Macabebe, Pampanga (Proclamation No.1411), September 14 in the Municipality of Claver, Surigao del Norte (Proclamation No.1412), and September 16 in the Municipality of San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur (Proclamation No.1413).

Chilean Electoral Public Holidays Cancellation Moves To The Senate

The Government, Decentralization and Regionalization Commission of the Chilean Senate has begun the review of a bill seeking to abolish holidays on election days.
The first aim of the bill is to eliminate the prohibition on operation that governs shopping centers or complexes managed under the same corporate name or legal personality (malls and strip centers) during election days.
The second aim is to extend the legal leave from three to four hours so that workers who must perform their duties that day can go to vote.

The Prime Minister and head of Peru's Council of Ministers (PCM), Luis Galarreta, has announced that the draft request for delegated legislative powers, which will be sent to the Congress of the Republic, has finally been approved.
One of the eight areas in which legislation is being considered is a review of the public holiday schedule.
As per Prime Minister Galarreta the current legislative aim is "to modify the system of non-working holidays, in order to optimize their use to promote productivity, reconcile work and family life and promote tourism", a marked departure from the announced aim of the legislation, back in February 2025, which was to "modify the system of non-working holidays and reduce their number, in order to rationalize their use and promote productivity".
