The Anguillan Government Executive Council has approved the declaration of Friday, May 25, 2018, as a one-off public holiday in Anguilla, to allow all Anguillians and others the necessary time to attend the funeral service of the late Sir Emile Gumbs, Anguilla's second, and longest-serving, chief minister.

The aforementioned announcement that Friday, May 25, 2018, as a one-off public holiday in Anguilla, to allow all Anguillians and others the necessary time to attend the funeral service of the late Sir Emile Gumbs, is in addition to the annual list of official non-working public holidays in Anguilla for the calendar year 2018, as released by the Government of Anguilla, earlier this year (2018-01-21).
