Bangladesh's National Moon Sighting Committee has announced that it had not sighted the New Moon crescent, last night, and, therefore, that the upcoming Ashura (commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain), and related annual non-working public holiday in Bangladesh, would be observed across the country on Friday, September 21, 2018, which corresponds to the previously-announced date for Ashura, and related public holiday in Bangladesh.
The aforementioned announcement that the upcoming Ashura public holiday in Bangladesh would be observed on Friday, September 21, 2018, is in line with the date announced in the list of non-working public holidays in Bangladesh in 2018, which was released last fall (06-Jan-2018 and 06-Nov-2017) by the Ministry of Public Administration, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
