Ecuador's Minister of Tourism (Ministro de Turismo), has issued a communique confirming that the upcoming October 9, Independencia de Guayaquil, annual public holiday of Ecuador is a compulsory annual non-working public holiday in Ecuador which will be observed, this year, on Monday, October 8, 2018.

The aforementioned announcement that the upcoming October 9, Independencia de Guayaquil, annual public holiday of Ecuador is a compulsory annual non-working public holiday in Ecuador which will be observed, this year, on Monday, October 8, 2018, is in line with the Decreto No.858, which was released a couple of years ago (2016-12-21 and 2015-12-29), by Ecuador's Presidency, and which specifies the dates of Ecuador's non-working public holidays for the calendar years 2016-2020, although exceptions to these rules have been declared twice already, earlier this year and late last year (2018-04-26 and 2017-11-30), by Ecuador's new President, Lenín Moreno Garcés.
