The government of Gabon has announced that Saturday, October 6, 2018, would be a one-off non-working public holiday to coincide with the upcoming legislative and regional elections.
As was the case 6 years ago (2012-05-02), the aforementioned announcement states that "la journée du samedi 6 octobre, date du déroulement au Gabon des élections législative et locales couplées, est déclarée chômée, payée et récupérable sur toute l'étendue du territoire".
The aforementioned announcement, which amends the list of official non-working public holidays in the Gabon for 2018, as released, earlier this year (2018-01-11), by Gabon's Ministre du Travail, de l'Emploi et de la Prévoyance Sociale, is nonetheless in line with the 2004 amendments (2004-05-26) to Gabon's public holidays legislation (the "Décret, n°000484/PR/MTE du 26 mai 2004, portant modification de l'article 2 du décret n°000727/PR/MTEFP du 2 Juin 1998").
