The Parliament of Germany's state of Schleswig-Holstein, has voted by a large margin with only some abstentions, the addition of the October 31, Reformation Day, as a new annual non-working public holiday in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein, after the 2017 exception whereby October 31, 2017, was declared a one-off national non-working public holiday in Germany.

Last year (25-Jan-2017), we had reported that the Minister of Economics (Ministerpräsident) of Germany's state of Schleswig-Holstein, Reinhard Meyer, had announced that he was in favour of adding Reformation Day as a new annual non-working public holiday in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein, after the 2017 exception whereby October 31, 2017, was declared a one-off national non-working public holiday in Germany.

Recall that the German State of Schleswig-Holstein, was the first state, out-of-the-gate (04-Nov-2012), deciding to declare Reformation Day, on October 31, 2017, as a one-off public holiday, followed by a couple of years of piecemeal declaration of October 31, 2017, as a one-off public holiday, by each German Land (08-Oct-2015, 16-Sep-2014, 12-Dec-2013, 13-Aug-2013, 04-Jun-2013, 17-May-2013, 15-May-2013, 01-May-2013, 14-Mar-2013, 08-Mar-2013, 25-Jan-2013, 10-Jan-2013, 13-Dec-2012).

The neighboring German States of Bremen and Hamburg are also in the last stages of deciding which will be the new annual public holiday in their respective states, with October 31 being the leading contender, if only to have harmonious holidays schedules in the north of Germany where many people live and work in a different state.
