The Government of India's state of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a Government Order which further amends its annual list of the days which will be non-working public holidays in India's state of Jammu and Kashmir for the upcoming calendar year 2018, this time as it pertains to the upcoming Jumat-ul-Vida and Eid-ul-Fitr 2018 public holidays in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the aforementioned announcement ("In partial modification of Government Order No: 1584-GAD of 2017 and Government Order No: 1585-GAD of 2017 dated: 14-12-2017, the holiday on account of Eid-ul-Fitr shall be observed on 16th June, 2018 (Saturday) instead of 15th June, 2018 (Friday) in the Government Offices, Educational Institutions and under the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881"), the date of the upcoming 2018 Eid-ul-Fitr public holiday in Jammu and Kashmir has been moved to a day later, Saturday, June 16, 2018, as was the case last year (2017-06-21).
However, today's announcement goes on to announce that, as Eid-ul-Fitr is now on Saturday, June 16, 2018, the Friday before that, when the Jumat-ul-Vida public holiday is to be held will be Friday, June 15, 2018, notwithstanding the fact that the Jammu and Kashmir public holiday was already observed last Friday, June 8, as per the terms of the "List of holidays for the calendar year-2018 under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881", contained in the Jammu and Kashmir Government Order 1585 Dt 14/12/2017 (2017-12-15).
