The National Astronomical Observatory of Japan has released an amended list of official national holidays and public holidays in Japan for the calendar year 2019, in which the December 23, Emperor's Birthday, annual public holiday of Japan is canceled.

Earlier this year (06-Jan-2018), the Bank of Japan (Japan's central bank) has released its annual list of official national holidays, public holidays and bank holidays in Japan for the calendar year 2019, in which the December 23 public holiday was included.

Note that the aforementioned amended list of official national holidays, public holidays and bank holidays in Japan for the calendar year 2019 still does not make any mention of the probable May 1, 2019, public holiday expected to be declared on the occasion of Prince Naruhito's enthronement ceremony, and the possibility of April 30 and May 2, 2019, also being declared as one-off non-working public holidays in 2019 in Japan (06-Dec-2017 and 24-Jul-2016).
