The 100-member Latvian parliament has passed in its final reading, by a vote of 68-5, using a fast-track procedure, a bill declaring a one-off non-working public holiday in Latvia on September 24, 2018, on account of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis.
The aforementioned announcement adds yet another non-working public holiday in Latvia in 2018 to the list of 2018 public holidays in Latvia as announced and confirmed by the government of Latvia, earlier this year (2017-12-14 and 2017-02-26), and twice amended since then (2018-01-05 and 2017-12-29).
