The Government of Lithuania has announced the annual dates of official non-working public holidays and bank holidays in Lithuania for the upcoming calendar year 2018.

The aforementioned announcement confirms the 2010 declaration of December 24, Christmas Eve, as a new annual public holiday in Lithuania (2010-12-13), and, this year, does not include a special rule for the determination of the Mothers' Day annual non-working public holiday in Lithuania.

The practice of declaring bridge public holidays, compensated by working Saturdays, begun in 2005 (2005-10-17 and 2009-12-28), barely maintained 7 years ago (2010-12-29), and not applied for the 6 subsequent years (2017-01-07, 2015-12-20, 2015-01-05, 2014-01-10, 2013-01-08 and 2012-01-04), seems to have been abandoned for good.
