Maldives 2018 Mulls Ramadan Public Holidays Extension

The President of the Maldives, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, has announced that he would extend the upcoming beginning of Ramadan annual public holiday of the Maldives, by one day, should the first day of Ramadan fall on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.

As per the text of the today's announcement, "if the 1st of Ramadan falls on 16th May, a Wednesday, the next working day on Thursday will also be a public holiday", and the previously-announced (2018-01-15), list of 2018 public holidays in the Maldives would thus be amended as was the case in past years (2017-06-06, 2016-07-28 and 2016-07-12).
