The Home Ministry of the Government of Nepal has announced that Sunday, May 13, 2018, had been declared as the date of this year's Bhoto Jatra of Rato Machhindranath non-working public holiday in Nepal's Kathmandu Valley.

Today's announcement that Sunday, May 13, 2018, had been declared as the date of the 2018 Bhoto Jatra of Rato Machhindranath non-working public holiday in Nepal's Kathmandu Valley, is much earlier than usual, as the arrival of the month-long chariot procession of Rato Machindranath Raath Jatra, in Jawalakhel, is regularly followed by a one-off non-working public holiday in the Kathmandu Valley, usually in mid- to late-June or early July (2017-05-23, 2014-06-20, 2013-06-06, 2012-06-22, 2011-06-26, 2010-06-26, and 2007-07-07), with a much later date a few years ago (2016-07-28), and in particular the year when the chariot procession of Rato Machindranath Raath Jatra, was halted by the April 25 earthquake, and resumed on September 21, leading to a Bhoto Jatra non-working public holiday in Nepal's Kathmandu Valley the following month (2015-10-11).

As usual, the aforementioned announcement that Sunday, May 13, 2018, had been declared as the date of this year's Bhoto Jatra non-working public holiday in Nepal's Kathmandu Valley, is in addition to the recent (2018-03-31) gazetted list of official non-working public holidays in Nepal for the Nepalese year B.S. 2075 (April 2018-April 2019).
