Puerto Rico's Senate has approved, and sent to the Lower House (Cámara de Representantes), the "Proyecto del Senado 460" which reverses the cancellation of the annual public holiday of Puerto Rico on July 25 (Día de la Constitución del Estado Libre Asociado) and its replacement with a new annual non-working public holiday, the "Día de la Ciudadanía Americana".

The aforementioned vote in Puerto Rico's Senate follows last year's vote (2017-04-28), by the very same Puerto Rico Senate, to approve, and send to Governor Ricardo Rosselló Nevares for his signature, the "Proyecto de ley de la Cámara 938" which cancels the annual public holiday of Puerto Rico on July 25 (Día de la Constitución del Estado Libre Asociado) and replaces it with a new annual non-working public holiday, the "Día de la Ciudadanía Americana".), thus amending the previously-announced 2017 (2016-06-11) and 2018 (2017-03-24) lists of Puerto Rico's public sector holidays, both based on the "Proyecto del Senado 1113", signed by the Governor of Puerto Rico, Alejandro García Padilla, 4 years ago (2014-07-29), slightly amended a year later (2015-10-21), and which immediately reduced the number of annual non-working public sector holidays in Puerto Rico, by lumping 4 of the annual non-working public sector holidays of Puerto Rico into one, the "Día de los Próceres Puertorriqueños" (2014-07-29, 2014-07-23, 2014-07-19, 2014-07-01, 2014-05-22, 2014-05-12 and 2014-03-19).
