Following today's Cabinet meeting, the Romanian Government announced that it had declared Monday, April 30, 2018, as a one-off non-working public sector holiday throughout Romania to link the May 1st public holiday of Romania with the preceding weekend.

Earlier this week (2018-04-09), the Romanian Government had announced that it was considering the declaration of Monday, April 30, 2018, as a one-off non-working public sector holiday throughout Romania to link the May 1st public holiday of Romania with the preceding weekend, thus amending the lists of public holidays for 2018 in Romania (2017-12-31), once more (2018-03-12, 2018-02-28 and 2018-02-25), though only for the Romanian public sector.

The aforementioned possible declaration of Monday, April 30, 2018, as a one-off non-working public sector holiday throughout Romania to link the May 1st public holiday of Romania with the preceding weekend, will be discussed at the upcoming cabinet meeting on Thursday, April 12, 2018.

As is common in cases (2017-07-21, 2013-12-13, 2013-08-14, 2012-11-28 and 2012-04-26) when bridge public holidays are declared in Romania, the aforementioned one-off non-working public sector holiday will be compensated by the declaration of the same number of working Saturdays (May 5), or by overtime work to be performed before May 11, 2018.
