Swaziland's Minister for Home Affairs, Princess Tsandzile, has announced in Parliament that the upcoming annual non-working public holiday in Swaziland to mark King Mswati III's birthday would be observed on Thursday, April 19, 2018, to be followed by a one-off public holiday on Friday, April 20, 2018, to also commemorate the renaming of Swaziland as Eswatini.

The usual date for the King's Birthday annual public holiday is April 19, in the past this public holiday has often been moved around, for a variety or reasons (2016-02-25, 2015-03-12, 2014-04-15 and 2012-04-14), though not always (2013-04-17).

Such last-minute announcements of non-working public holidays dates is common in Swaziland, although these last-minute announcements of public holidays dates are usually tied-in to the traditional/religious public holidays of Umhlanga and Incwala (2018-01-02, 2017-08-18, 2016-12-15, 2016-08-10, 2015-12-24, 2015-08-13, 2015-01-06, 2014-08-06, 2013-12-02, 2013-07-23, 2012-07-07, 2011-12-09, 2011-06-16, 2010-12-21, 2010-08-12, ...).

Note that, in compensation, April 25, the date of the upcoming National Flag Day public holiday of Swaziland, has been declared a regular working day.
