Dubai's Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has issued Resolution No. 14 of 2018, which states that, with immediate effect, the dates of non-working public holidays in Dubai will be announced and specified by the Department of Human Resources of the Dubai Government, rather than the UAE's Federal Authority for Human Resources.
It is not clear what impact, if any, this resolution will have, as the language of the resolution is rather murky ("the Department of Human Resources of the Dubai Government shall announce the dates of public holidays, as declared by competent authorities in the UAE"... "The department shall specify the dates concerning the declared holiday, taking into consideration the working mechanisms and hours of governmental bodies and organizations") and no real rational is given for this resolution.
It is hard to imagine that Dubai would declare public holidays dates which are at odds with those of the UAE's federal government, but one never knows.
