Bangladesh's National Moon Sighting Committee, after its meeting chaired by State Minister for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, has announced that it had sighted the Muharram New Moon crescent, last night, and, therefore, that the upcoming Ashura (commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain), and related annual non-working public holiday in Bangladesh, would be observed across the country on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, which corresponds to the previously-announced date for Ashura, and related public holiday in Bangladesh.
The aforementioned announcement that the upcoming Ashura public holiday in Bangladesh would be observed on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, is in line with the date announced in the list of non-working public holidays in Bangladesh in 2019, which was released last fall (2018-10-30) by the Ministry of Public Administration, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
