The Ministry of Labour of the government of Benin released the communiqué N°001MTFP/DC/SGM/DGT/DRP/SRI announcing that Thursday, January 10, 2019, had been declared as a non-working public holiday throughout Bénin on account of the upcoming annual non-working public holiday in the Bénin for the "fête annuelle des religions traditionnelles" (traditional religions day).
The aforementioned declaration of Thursday, January 10, 2019, had been declared as a non-working public holiday throughout Bénin on account of the upcoming annual non-working public holiday in the Bénin for the traditional religions day ("la journée du Jeudi 10 Janvier 2019 est déclarée fériée sur toute l’étendue du territoire nationale"), is in line with the expected soon to be released list of annual non-working public holidays in the Benin for the calendar year 2019, as well as that for 2018 and 2017, as announced by the government of Benin (2018-01-07 and 2017-02-11), as well as with the "loi n°90-019 du 27 juillet 1990 fixant les fêtes légales en République du Bénin", in which the "traditional religions day" was added to the list of Bénin's annual public holidays at the behest of then President Nicéphore Soglo.
