The Government of the Cayman Islands has released an updated listing of the 2019 annual non-working public holidays in the Cayman Islands, including an updated public holiday for the Cruise Pier Referendum, now marked as "Thursday, 19 December, Public Holiday (No Referendum)".

The aforementioned Cayman Islands public holiday, on December 19, despite the referendum having been canceled, follows from last month's announcement (2019-11-26) by Cayman Islands Premier, Alden McLaughlin, that the upcoming December 19 public holiday would be maintained, even if the Referendum itself is canceled or postponed ("None of us can now be certain there will be a referendum on the 19 December, but no matter what happens, the public holiday will be preserved").

The Public Holidays Law (2007 Revision) states that public holidays shall include "the day appointed under the Elections Law for the taking of the poll at a general election in the Islands" (2007-06-19) and this was later confirmed to include the date of any referendum in the Cayman Islands (2012-05-14, 2012-05-08, 2012-04-13, 2012-02-27, 2009-10-24, 2008-12-01, 2008-07-13, 2008-06-23, 2008-06-18).
