Chad's President, Idriss Déby, had finally signed a decree implementing his earlier promise that International Women's Day, on March 8, would henceforth be an annual non-working public holiday in Chad.

Almost a year ago (2018-03-30), Chad's President, Idriss Déby, had announced that International Women's Day, on March 8, would henceforth be an annual non-working public holiday in Chad, but it was not to be until today that the announcement was followed with effect.

International Women's Day, on March 8, being henceforth an annual non-working public holiday in Chad ("décret 273 du 7 mars 2019 portant modification de l’article 2 de celui N° 413 du 30 septembre 1997") represents the first change to Chad's public holidays for almost a decade (2011-08-10), apart from the odd one-off public holiday (2013-07-04 , 2013-05-12, 2011-08-06, 2011-05-04, 2010-11-08).
