A motion by MP Julio Fabián, of ARENA, that would have declared December 23, 2019, and January 3, 2020, as one-off public sector holidays in el Salvador, only obtained 37 of the 43 required votes.

The motion was "so that the public sector could enjoy 16 days of running rest, along with their families, and would be presented until January 7" and would have been compensated by amending the list of 2019 public holidays in El Salvador (2019-01-26 and 2019-01-22), and having the El Salvador public sector work on Saturday, December 7, and Saturday, December 14, 2019.
