The Chief Minister of India's state of Puducherry, V. Narayanasamy, has announced that the government of Puducherry had declared Monday, October 28, 2019, the day after the upcoming Diwali public holiday, as a one-off non-working public holiday to be observed in India's state of Puducherry.
The aforementioned announcement ("in response to the plea made by several sections of people that the day after Diwali be declared a holiday") that the upcoming Diwali public holiday, would be extended by a day, Monday, October 28, 2019, mirrors a similar announcement made yesterday by India's state of Tamil Nadu (2019-10-21), and amends, again (2019-09-06, 2019-03-28 and 2019-01-09), the Government of India's State of Puducherry's announced list of official state non-working public holidays in India's State of Puducherry for the calendar year 2019, as released last year (2018-10-28) in the G.O. Ms. No. 70, Puducherry, dated 25th October 2018.
Note that, contrary to what was the case, yesterday (2019-10-21), when the Government of India's state of Tamil Nadu announced a one-off non-working public holiday on Monday, October 28, 2019, but in line with the recent declaration of October 30, 2019, as a one-off public holiday in the Indian State of Gujarat (2019-10-22), the additional public holiday on October 28 will be compensated by the declaration of Saturday, November 9, 2019, as a regular working day in Puducherry.
