Benin Traditional Religions Days To Last A Week

The Government of Benin has announced that the upcoming 2027 Vodun Days (Traditional Religions Days) had been extended to last from January 2 to 9, 2027.
Benin's Minister of Labour and Social Security, Adidjatou A. Mathys, did however stress that the number of non-working public holidays for the Vodun Days 2027 would remain as set "in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 2024-32 of 02 September 2024 establishing the annual festival of traditional religions in the Republic of Benin".

Morocco Rules-Out Public Holidays Reform

Morocco's Minister Delegate for Administrative Reform and Digital Transition, Amal El Fallah, questioned in Parliament about a possible revision of the official holiday calendar, has stated that the government was not planning an immediate overhaul of the public holiday system in Morocco.
In her written response to parliamentary advisor Khalid Satti of the National Labor Union of Morocco (UNTM), the minister emphasized that any changes to the system would require in-depth consultation with all stakeholders, in both the public and private sectors and that Moroccan civil servants currently benefit from 17 public holidays divided between national and religious holidays, in accordance with decree no. 2.77.169 establishing the list of days off in public administrations, public establishments and concessionary services.
She added that with 17 annual public holidays, Morocco ranks above several Arab countries, notably Egypt (13 days), Tunisia (15 days) and Algeria (9 days).

Vietnam Proposes Extending Upcoming Public Holidays

The Ministry of Interior of Vietnam has proposed extending the upcoming (and yet to be officialized) Culture Day public holiday with the declaration of Monday, November 23, 2026, as a bridge public holiday.
The Ministry also proposed 2 arrangements for the upcoming 2027 Tet (Lunar New Year) public holidays, one lasting from February 4-10 (7 days) and another lasting from February 5-14 (10 days).
The Ministry has asked for feedback from 13 agencies by August 10, 2026.

Rwanda's Ministry of Public Service and Labour has announced that Friday, August 7, 2026, would be a public holiday to mark Umuganura Day (National Harvest and Thanksgiving Day), and that that public holiday is to covers workers in both public and private sectors across the country.
As per the official announcement, "The Ministry of Public Service and Labour informs all employers and employees in both public and private sectors that Friday, August 7, 2026, will be a public holiday in celebration of Umuganura Day".

Bangladesh Declares August 5 Public Holiday

Bangladesh's Ministry of Public Administration has announced a nationwide public holiday on August 5 to mark July Mass Uprising Day, to apply to government, semi-government and autonomous institutions.
As for private sector banks, financial institutions, garment factories and other commercial establishments whether they remain closed on August 5 will be decided by the respective institutions in line with government directives and their own policies.

Vietnam Considers Announcing Public Holidays By September 30th

The Ministry of Interior of Vietnam has included in the latest draft of the Law amending and supplementing several articles of the Labor Code, provisions that would mandate the determination of the annual Binh Ngo Tet (Lunar New Year) holidays before September of the previous year.
The draft law is expected to be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and approval at the October 2026 session, and will take effect from March 1, 2027.
Currently, Vietnam's Prime Minister decides on the specific dates for the Lunar New Year and National Day public holidays only.
