Mauritius' government has confirmed its earlier announcement that Monday, September 9, 2019, would be declared as a one-off non-working public holiday in Mauritius, on account of the visit of Pope Francis to the island.

A couple of months ago (2019-06-11), Mauritius' government had announced its intention to declare Monday, September 9, 2019, as a one-off non-working public holiday in Mauritius, on account of the visit of Pope Francis to Mauritius ("Our country will be blessed this year with the visit of the Pope [...] so that we can as a nation, welcome His Holiness to our country"), in a statement made by Mauritius' Prime Minister and minister of Finance, Pravind Jugnauth, thus amending the 2019 list of official non-working public holidays in Mauritius, as announced, last year (2018-05-26), as we had surmised might happen, last spring (2019-04-19).
